PRL-2 is one of three members (PRL-1, PRL-2, and PRL-3) that is part of a unique protein-tyrosine phosphatase ((PTP) family. PTPs are cell signaling molecules that play regulatory roles in a variety of cellular processes. PTPs in this class contain a protein tyrosine phosphatase catalytic domain and a characteristic C-terminal prenylation motif. This PTP has been shown to primarily associate with plasmic and endosomal membrane through its C-terminal prenylation. This PTP is known to interact with the beta-subunit of Rab geranylgeranyltransferase II (beta GGT II), and thus may function as a regulator of GGT II activity. Overexpression of this gene in mammalian cells conferres a transformed phenotype and can result in a tumor growth in nude mice, suggesting a role in tumorigenesis. Alternatively spliced transcript variants that encode two distinct isoforms have been described
RIG1 is a cytoplasmically bound enzyme that exhibits phospholipase 1/2 activity and catalyzes the hydrolysis of various important membrane lipids including phosphatidylcholine and phosphatidylethanolamine containing lipids. RIG1 mimics PLA1/2 activit

MRP8/ABCC11 is an interesting protein important in a wide range of cellular processes from bile acid metabolism to ear wax secretion. MRP8/ABCC11 is involved in the ATP-dependent uptake of lipophilic anions, steroid sulfates and various bile acids an
