Elevated levels of Myoglobin in the blood can be an indication of heart muscle damage , this has led to the use of Myoglobin in the diagnosis of cardiac events. As Myoglobin is found in all muscle tissue it has a lower specificity for cardiac events that proteins such as Troponins or CKMB, however the elevation of Myoglobin the blood is typically more rapid.
