WW domain-containing oxidoreductase (WWOX) is also called Fragile site FRA16D oxidoreductase (FOR). WWOX is a putative oxidoreductase that functions as a tumor suppressor and is involved in apoptosis. WWOX is also required for normal bone development, and inhibits Wnt signaling. WWOX is widely expressed, but is most strongly expressed in testis, prostate, and ovary as well as in cancer cell lines. Certain isoforms (Isoform 5 and isoform 6) are thought to only be expressed in tumor cell lines. WWOX is linked to several cancer types like Esophageal cancer (ESCR).
